Spraylock Work In Progress

One of the main assets requested for Amnesia: A Machine For Pigs was a spraylock chamber. This would be a decontamination lock, where the player enters on one side and exits through the other. This was meant to be a complex piece of machinery with lots of bells and whistles the player could interact with. It was designed as a modular piece for easy placement throughout the game, between different areas to be used as a transition piece both story wise as well as visually. Below you can see the steps I underwent to go from concept, to engineering, animating and bringing it to a final unique asset in-game.

Below are a few models that I created for Amnesia: A Machine For Pigs. Due to the 11 month contract I was on, and serving as the projects lead level artist, I needed to knock out as much content as possible to populate my levels with new custom content. This while maintaining a balance between quality and quantity. The truck below for instance was created from scratch to final in-game in less than four days. I also created the cellar platform that was needed to alter the players path after an explosion had happened. Another asset that is seen many times throughout the game are the gauges. I originally created those to go inside the spraylock and later created separate versions of these to be used on puzzles. I also created the alley canister puzzle fuelpump. For this I wanted the liquid to be visible and see the fuel being pumped inside the canister, this to clearly indicate to the player the progress of their actions. I created many more assets for this game, but these are some of the few I still have images of worth showing.

I created the teaser trailer below for The Chinese Room together with Samuel Justice and Jessica Curry whom both worked on the audio for it. This was the first time people were going to get to see this new sequel so it was very important we set the tone right.

The video below shows me working on one of the Amnesia: A Machine For Pigs assets that was used multiple times in the game. It was a visual barrier for the player that shows them what lies beyond, without allowing them access to that area until later in the level.
